Our Story

Not every dog will eat just anything

Some dogs are picky they sniff, they hesitate, and sometimes they just walk away.

Goose is one of those dogs.

I brought Goose home from Indiana on January 24, 2025, when he was only about a month and a half old. He was the runt of the litter, weighing just 3 pounds, and from the very beginning, he needed a little extra care. It didn’t take long before he became my whole world.

Goose has a big personality packed into a small dog. He’s funny, stubborn, and full of character everyone who meets him instantly falls in love with him. He’s been by my side through everything, even college. Whether we’re traveling, out on the boat, mudding, fishing, or swimming… he’s always right there with me.

But when it came to food, Goose was different.

He used to love his dry dog food and treats, which is why it didn’t make sense when one day he just got bored and stopped eating.

He wouldn’t just eat anything. He doesn’t like peanut butter, won’t touch fish, and even turns his nose up at things like green beans. Some days he’d eat, other days he wouldn’t and when he decided he didn’t want something, that was it.

At first, I didn’t realize how serious it was. I was busy, and I didn’t notice right away that he wasn’t eating the way he should have been.

Until I did.

There were nights I couldn’t sleep, replaying everything and wondering what I had missed. I felt like a horrible dog mom for not realizing sooner that he wasn’t eating. I knew something wasn’t right. I knew something had to change.

At one point, he had stopped eating so much that he began losing weight. Some people said he might just be small, but there was a time you could see his spine and even his butt bones and I knew that wasn’t normal.

We went to multiple vets trying to figure out what was wrong, but never really got clear answers. After being faced with expensive testing and no real solution, I decided to take things into my own hands.

I started making his meals from scratch spending hours in the kitchen, sometimes days and even weeks, trying different ingredients, textures, and combinations just to find something he would actually eat.

And then finally… he did.

Little by little, he started eating again.
Then he started gaining weight.
And slowly but surely, he became healthy and happy again.

But finding treats he actually liked?
That was still a struggle.

That’s why Goose’s Lowrider Snack Shack was created simple, homemade treats made specifically for dogs who don’t just eat anything.

Because picky dogs deserve treats they actually get excited about.
